Dear Swiss Community in Korea,

I am pleased to extend my warm greetings to you through our newsletter during this wonderful season.

In this edition of the newsletter, I am particularly pleased to introduce our Embassy's annual lighthouse event, the Swiss-Korean Innovation Week, which will be held from May 20-24. Launched in 2018, the Swiss-Korean Innovation Week aims to promote cooperation between Switzerland and the Republic of Korea in the fields of research, technology, innovation, and business. Over the years, we have curated a diverse program on topics relevant to both countries, such as medical technologies, smart living, circular economy, green transition, and diversity.

Under the theme "The Trust Equation," the 2024 edition will delve into the multifaceted dimensions of digital trust, exploring critical issues such as cybersecurity, data privacy, AI, automation, and ethical practices. We have invited experts and practitioners from Switzerland and Korea across a spectrum of sectors, including policy-making, science, media, business, and humanitarian endeavors. Many of our events are open to the public, and you can access detailed information on our Swiss-Korean Innovation Week website.

In addition to the Swiss-Korean Innovation Week, we are pleased to invite you to explore a series of exhibitions in the field of visual arts. Swiss artist Ugo Rondinone's solo exhibition "Burn to Shine" is currently on display at Museum San until September 18, featuring over 40 works including sculpture, painting, installation and film. Also, Swiss-Japanese artist Leiko Ikemura's first exhibition in Korea, "Light on the Horizon," is on view through August 4 at Heredium in Daejeon. On the musical front, Festival Strings Lucerne returns to Korea in June with performances at the Seoul Arts Center and the Busan Cultural Center.

In May, the Embassy will host a press conference to promote SWISS's direct flight between Incheon and Zurich. As the holiday season approaches, we would like to remind you of the FDFA's travel app - Travel Admin. This application provides a travel preparation checklist and valuable destination information.

I look forward to meeting you in person at the Embassy's upcoming events and I hope you enjoy the beautiful weather.

Warm regards,

Dagmar Schmidt Tartagli
Ambassador of Switzerland to the Republic of Korea
