Kazakhstan's ambitious reform agenda is paving the way for strengthening rule of law and good governance. President Tokayev has spearheaded comprehensive political reforms, including a transformation of government institutions and strengthening of checks and balances, emphasizing the nation's commitment to a democratic path.Speaking at the 55th session of the Human Rights Council, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu, reiterated his nation's steadfast commitment to upholding human rights and fostering international cooperation.
Deputy Prime Minister Nurtleu emphasized Kazakhstan's role in contributing to shared values and goals both nationally and internationally, highlighting the nation's geographic location at the crossroads of various cultural and ethnic identities as a strength and foundation of its unique brand of multilateralism.
Acknowledging the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as an opportunity for nations to renew commitments, Mr. Nurtleu highlighted Kazakhstan's recent ratification of two Optional Protocols and legislative efforts to enhance child protection and safety standards in schools. He also emphasized Kazakhstan's abolition of the death penalty, implementation of a zero-tolerance policy against torture, and incorporation of recommendations from the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights into government action plans.
